Once again, we participated in the .debug conference, Croatia’s largest technology event, held on 9 and 10 June in Zagreb. As part of the conference programme, Tamara Hadjina, Director of Research and Development (R&D) at KONČAR – Digital, delivered a presentation on the challenges of cybersecurity in critical infrastructure systems.

In her presentation titled “Cybersecurity in Mission-Critical Systems: When Security Must Not Stop the System”, she focused on the specific characteristics of Operational Technology (OT) environments, where security measures must never compromise operational continuity or the stability of physical processes. The presentation addressed the challenge of protecting critical infrastructure systems without disrupting operations, as well as the limitations of applying conventional software development practices in environments where failure is simply not an option.

During the presentation, the key prerequisites for building resilient industrial systems were highlighted, along with the ways in which KONČAR – Digital is responding to growing market demands through the next generation of cloud-based PROZA SCADA solutions, advanced analytics, and dedicated Operational Technology Security Operations Centres (OT SOCs). Particular emphasis was placed on compliance with stringent international standards and the upcoming requirements of the European NIS2 Directive.

Through practical examples – from the architecture of digital substations to advanced monitoring of large renewable energy facilities – the presentation demonstrated how security, reliability, and engineering discipline together form the foundation of modern power systems and critical infrastructure.

By participating in the .debug 2026 conference, we demonstrated once again our expertise in developing advanced digital solutions and its active role in shaping a secure, reliable, and resilient digital future for the energy sector.
