Our shelves are full, but every award brings the same joy – especially when it comes from readers
Following yesterday’s announcement of recognitions for academic excellence and ESG commitment, today we proudly add another accolade to our ever-growing collection – the Economic Event of the Year award. It was presented last night at the Emerald Hall of the Esplanade Hotel to KONČAR’s President of the Management Board, Mr. Gordan Kolak, MSc.
At the 10th anniversary ceremony organized by Večernji list and Poslovni dnevnik, KONČAR received the award for the economic event of the year, as voted by readers – for the significant increase in the company’s market value, which exceeded €1.6 billion. This achievement confirms KONČAR’s strong position on the domestic and regional capital markets and reflects growing investor confidence.
Dražen Klarić, Editor-in-Chief of Večernji list, opened the evening by noting the emotional significance of the event, as for the past decade both Večernji list and Poslovni dnevnik have been telling stories of excellence and those who create added value for society and the economy. He emphasized that this requires knowledge and inspiration, and that in today’s challenging times, it is particularly demanding to be an entrepreneur, maintain private initiative, and persevere.
In his address, Gordan Kolak stated: "I would like to thank Večernji list and Poslovni dnevnik for organizing an event that celebrates the success of Croatian business for ten years now. The economy is the driving force of a society that, 35 years after independence, has built a stable path forward. I am especially proud that KONČAR employees have contributed to positioning Zagreb as a capital hub of Central and Eastern Europe, which I consider an exceptional step forward for the domestic market." Kolak added that he believes KONČAR will continue to strongly contribute to the development of the Croatian capital market and the further strengthening of the overall economy.
We congratulate all this year’s laureates whose work and vision push the boundaries of Croatian business – especially Gordana Kovačević, President of Ericsson Nikola Tesla, and Marko Pipunić, founder of Žito, who were named Businesspersons of the Year. Last year, this title was awarded to Gordan Kolak, who received the recognition both by readers’ choice and the expert jury.
We are grateful to readers for recognizing our dedication and perseverance. Every award brings joy, but those coming from the community we belong to carry special meaning. We remain committed to creating value – not only through recognition, but through innovations shaping the future of energy.
