Next phase of rail infrastructure modernization officially underway
April 2025 marked our signing of a new EUR 912,128.31 contract with HŽ Infrastruktura for the refurbishment of the PS2 25 kV sectioning facility in Staro Petrovo Selo. Building on a long-standing partnership in railway electrification projects, this initiative is set for completion within 16 months.
The PS2 Staro Petrovo Selo sectioning facility is located adjacent to the double-track mainline M104 Novska – Tovarnik – State Border, at km 261+553, just south of the track and near the Staro Petrovo Selo station – between Nova Gradiška and Staro Petrovo Selo. Commissioned on 26 December 1969, the facility has served as a critical component in the railway traction network for over five decades.

The PS2 sectioning station features a 25 kV substation installed within a two-level structure, connected to the overhead contact system via four feeder lines. The upper floor houses medium-voltage switchgear and primary equipment, while the ground floor includes a medium-voltage cell with an auxiliary transformer and a control room outfitted with secondary systems for protection, supervision, and control, in addition to AC/DC distribution panels. The facility is remotely operated and monitored via CDU Vinkovci. Following the upgrade, the facility will continue to serve its original operational role, now equipped with advanced technology and a next-generation relay protection scheme, delivering improved reliability, control precision, and integration with the wider traction power system.
The project brings together expertise from multiple subsidiaries of our Group, with contributions from KONČAR – Switchgear, KONČAR – Instrument Transformers, KONČAR – Digital, KONČAR – Distribution and Special Transformers, KONČAR – Electronics and Informatics, and KONČAR – Electrical Engineering Institute.
