As a result, KONČAR Group, as the general sponsor, supported this year’s 19th edition of Job Fair, held this week (13–14 May) in Zagreb. The company presented itself to students as a Croatian manufacturer of high-tech products developed entirely on the basis of its own knowledge and solutions for the global market. With more than 6,500 employees, KONČAR Group is one of the largest domestic employers and the largest net exporter, recognised in 140 countries worldwide.

The KONČAR Group’s presence attracted numerous ambitious students from FER and other technical faculties. Representatives of as many as eight Group companies (Dalekovod, Digital, Distribution and Special Transformers, Generators and Motors, Electrical Engineering Institute, Instrument Transformers, HELB and Telenerg Engineering) seized this opportunity. They introduced students to internship opportunities, scholarships, seminar and thesis development, as well as potential employment and long-term career paths within KONČAR, providing valuable insights into their respective organisations and the employee profiles they seek.

Jakov Ungarov, Director of Project Execution in the Urban Mobility and Infrastructure business area, presented KONČAR at the panel titled Working on Projects that Matter. A FER alumnus, Ungarov is involved daily in projects with tangible impact. He is also a seasoned expert who has participated in the execution of numerous large-scale infrastructure projects throughout his career, offering valuable lessons for younger generations. Among the projects highlighted were the modernisation of tram infrastructure in the City of Osijek and the modernisation and electrification of the Zaprešić–Zabok railway line, emphasising their role as key prerequisites for the transition to more sustainable and carbon-neutral urban mobility.

As part of the Talk segment, an engaging and inspiring lecture was delivered by Dr Igor Žiger, Director of the Engineering Sector at KONČAR – Instrument Transformers. He provided insights into life and work within this globally present manufacturing company, highlighting in particular its own technological development as an example of addressing new market demands and business challenges that young professionals will encounter in the power engineering sector. In addition, interested students had the opportunity to learn about the prospects offered by modern engineering and interdisciplinary teamwork at the workshop Interdisciplinarity and Advanced Software Tools in 3D Power Network Modelling, led by Mateja Kaurloto Milić, Chartered Electrical Engineering Designer at Dalekovod-Projekt.

KONČAR Group once again proved to be an engaging partner for young STEM professionals, offering opportunities to work with the latest technologies, continuous professional development, active involvement in shaping innovations that will define the future of the industry, and the chance to test their knowledge on demanding projects around the world.
