Extending track record with 21st consecutive quarter of growth
Robust backlog of EUR 2.15 billion underpins exceptional net profit growth in Q1 2025.
KONČAR continued to deliver strong performance in the first quarter of 2025, reinforcing the foundations for the Group’s ongoing growth and operational expansion. During the reporting period, the Group secured order intake totalling EUR 416.3 million, with international markets accounting for a significant 78% share. Bolstered by this robust order intake, KONČAR’s backlog expanded to EUR 2.15 billion, an increase of EUR 110.2 million compared to year-end 2024, providing a solid platform for sustained future revenue streams. Consolidated sales revenue for products and services reached EUR 306.1 million, up EUR 96.1 million, or nearly 46%, compared to Q1 2024. Meanwhile, net profit climbed to EUR 65.1 million, more than doubling year-on-year with an increase of 129.1%.

Building on strong order intake, a record-breaking backlog, and sustained growth in revenue and net profit, all key performance indicators affirm the continuation of KONČAR Group’s positive trajectory. EBITDA for the first quarter of 2025 reached EUR 69.5 million, reflecting a year-on-year increase of EUR 34.7 million. The EBITDA margin also saw significant expansion, rising by 6.1 percentage points to 22.7%, underscoring continued operational efficiency and profitability. Importantly, revenue growth was achieved across all four of KONČAR Group’s strategic business segments: Power generation, Power transmission and distribution, Urban mobility and infrastructure, and Digital solutions and platforms. The Transmission and Distribution segment, led by the flagship company KONČAR – Distribution and Special Transformers (D&ST), continued to outperform expectations, with net profit soaring 76% year-on-year relative to Q1 2024, underpinned by strategically aligned and operationally efficient execution.
„Through the intensive development efforts pursued over recent years, we have fortified our competitiveness, enabling us to deliver strong performance on the global stage, even amid the turbulent macroeconomic environment we face today. This success is a source of immense pride and satisfaction, and it fuels our optimism for the periods ahead. Export order momentum remains strong, highlighted by the further strengthening of our strategic foothold in Scandinavia through the successful award of new projects. Despite global geopolitical instability and mounting economic pressures, KONČAR remains resilient and well-positioned for sustained growth, supported by robust order intake and a successfully executed business transformation strategy“, stated MSc. Gordan Kolak, our CEO.
The first quarter also marked important advancements in the domestic market, particularly within the urban mobility and infrastructure segment, highlighted by the delivery of new trams and trains. KONČAR delivered the first of forty new low-floor trams to Zagreb Electric Tramways (ZET) in February, while the City of Osijek welcomed the first of ten new trams into service, with a follow-on order for an additional ten trams already announced. KONČAR – Electric Vehicles further reinforced its position in the rail sector, delivering the first of seven diesel-electric trains to HŽ Putnički prijevoz.
