Charging infrastructure for electric buses in Zagreb, Pula, and Šibenik
Over the past month, KONČAR has secured projects to develop charging infrastructure for electric buses in three Croatian cities – Zagreb, Pula, and Šibenik.
These projects represent an important step forward in modernising public transport, improving energy efficiency, and reducing CO₂ emissions in urban areas.
The scope includes the design, construction, and commissioning of charging stations, along with the associated power infrastructure and Charging Point Management Systems (CPMS). This creates the foundation for expanding electric bus fleets and ensuring their safe and reliable integration into daily operations. The projects are financed through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan 2021–2026.

The Zagreb project is one of the most extensive of its kind in Croatia and represents a key milestone in expanding the city’s electric public transport fleet. The contract signed with ZET d.o.o., worth EUR 7,846,605.34, includes the installation of 134 charging points for electric buses at the Podsused bus depot in Kovinska Street 32. Once completed, the newly procured 62 electric buses will be supported with the necessary infrastructure for stable and efficient operation. It is worth noting that, at the same location, KONČAR d.d. previously completed a project in October 2025 to install four charging points for the existing electric buses in ZET’s fleet.
A contract worth EUR 1,297,100.00 was signed with Pulapromet d.o.o. for the installation of 14 charging points at the existing depot in Šijana, Starih statuta 1A. The new charging system will ensure stable and efficient operation of 12 new electric buses and enable future capacity expansion in line with the City of Pula’s development plans.

In the coming days, a contract worth EUR 728,727.00 will be signed with Gradski parking d.o.o. for the installation of 12 charging points at the main bus station in Draga Street 14. The charging system will support the stable and efficient operation of 12 new electric buses expected to arrive in Šibenik during summer 2026.
These projects reaffirm KONČAR’s strong position as the leading domestic integrator of advanced power solutions for public transport. Several KONČAR subsidiaries will participate in equipment delivery and service provision, including Digital, Distribution and Special Transformers, Electronics and Informatics, and Switchgear.
