New contracts for VERBUND in Austria and Germany
Between June and August 2024, KONČAR signed three new projects in Germany and Austria with the Austrian power company VERBUND.
Two of the three new projects represent a continuation of the second phase of implementation for the Egglfing-Obernberg and Braunau-Simbach hydropower plants. The first phase of these projects was contracted in May 2023, while orders for the second phase were received in June 2024.

The first phase of both the Egglfing-Obernberg and Braunau-Simbach projects is currently under way, encompassing manufacturing activities as well as the start of dismantling the existing generators on site. The Egglfing-Obernberg project includes the production of six new generators, while the Braunau-Simbach project involves the revitalization of four generators, including the supply of new stators and new rotor poles.
In August 2024, we also signed a new agreement with the same customer for the revitalization of a generator at the Funsingau hydropower plant, located in the municipality of Gerlos in Austria’s Tyrol region. With an annual production of 26,954 MWh, the plant was commissioned in 1968. The powerhouse contains a unit consisting of a Francis turbine with a vertical shaft and a three-phase synchronous generator with a capacity of 25,000 kW and 333.3 rpm.
With these three newly contracted projects, we continue our long-standing successful cooperation with our Austrian partner.
