KONČAR – Power Transformers Ltd. (KPT) have delivered five grid transformers rated at 123 kV and 83 MVA intended for installation in five substations in the area surrounding Manila, the capital of the Philippines.
The transformers were manufactured for the Manila utility (Manila Electric Company – MERALCO). The cooperation with the Philippine-based customer began in 2007, and has so far resulted in 38 delivered units.
It is interesting to note that in November 2013, a 210 ton, 318 MVA transformer with overall dimensions of 8,6 m in length, 6,7 m in width and 7,7 m in height was transported from Zagreb to the Philippines via the largest cargo aircraft in the world, the Antonov An-225, produced by the Ukrainian company Antonov Airlines. Air freight of a complete transformer was a unique endeavor for both KPT and Croatia.
