Today, at the offices of the Macedonian Government, KONČAR – Power Plant and Electric Traction Engineering Inc. (KET) has concluded two contracts for projects that are part of an investment cycle of the Macedonian transmission system operator AD MEPSO. The projects were financed through a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). Given the importance of these contracts for the modernization of the Macedonian transmission grid, the signing ceremony was attended by Zoran Zaev, Prime Minister of Macedonia, Kočo Andjušev, Deputy Prime Minister, Goran Sugareski, Minister of Transport and Communications, with their associates, as well as Her Exellency Danijela Barišić, the Croatian Ambassador to Macedonia.

 

As part of the ceremony, Goran Leci, PhD, President of the Managing Board at KONČAR – Power Plant and Electric Traction Engineering (KONČAR – KET) signed two contracts.

The first contract signed was for the refurbishment of the 400kV substation Skopje 4, and it is valued at 4.8 million euros. The 400kV substation Skopje represents a particularly important junction in the Macedonian power grid. The project includes the refurbishment of the primary equipment on 400kV and 110kV, the installation of the secondary protection and control equipment, the SCADA system, as well as the design, assembly, construction works, testing and commissioning.

The second contract signed was for the delivery and installation of a relay protection system in the Tikveš, Vrutok, Špilje and Globočica HPPs, and it is valued at 630 thousand euros. The importance of this project lies in the modernization of the relay protection system in the above-mentioned Macedonian hydro power plants, and it entails the design, procurement and installation of the relay protection system in their substations, as well as their set up, functional testing and commissioning.
